DUBAI // Two Asian men have been arrested in possession of 4.6kg of heroin.
The anti-narcotics department at Dubai Police said on Wednesday that the men were arrested in mid-May for possession, trafficking and abuse of the drug.
Police said the first suspect was looking for someone to smuggle the heroin to a neighbouring country, according to Aletihad, the English-language sister newspaper of The National.
Major General Khalil Ibrahim Al Mansouri, assistant commander of Dubai Police CID, said police will continue to arrest any criminal attempting to smuggle or sell drugs in the UAE.
Colonel Eid Mohammed Thani Harb, acting director of the General Department of Anti-Narcotics, revealed the first suspect is a 35-year-old Asian who worked as a lorry driver for a private company, while the second is a 26-year-old Asian driver for the director of the same company.
