HTC 10 Running Android 7.0 Nougat Spotted, Update Coming In December

HTC took the wraps off its Sprint-exclusive 5.5-inch HTC Bolt smartphone on Nov. 11, which runs on Android 7.0 Nougat. Now the buzz is that the flagship HTC 10 is also poised to get updated to the latest OS.

While many HTC smartphones may be languishing on Android 6.0 Marshmallow even now, and are yet to get a taste of Android Nougat, this is set to change soon.

The HTC 10 has been spotted running on the latest Android 7.0 Nougat OS and the leaked screenshots affirm the rumors of the update’s arrival for the device.

The latest news comes courtesy of notable leakster @LlabTooFeR who is pretty accurate when it comes to HTC-oriented news. On Nov. 16, @LlabTooFeR shared images of the HTC 10 running on Android 7.0 Nougat on Twitter to affirm his assertions.

The leakster also revealed that the build for the European variant of the HTC 10 was stable and the Taiwan-based OEM would soon be able to push out the same to users of the handset.

This is not the first time @LlabTooFeR has spilled the beans on the HTC 10 getting the Android 7.0 Nougat software update. On Nov. 14, the leakster had taken to his Twitter account to share that the update would be arriving by end November or first week of December.

What Do The Leaked Images Reveal?

We already know that the HTC 10 has a stable build, but the leaked images of the device also offer a peek into the fact that HTC has retained a clean, almost raw Android experience.

Even though the update will bring a slew of features in its folds, the screenshots of the HTC 10’s Android 7.0 Nougat build suggest that only a few subtle changes have been made visually. The lockscreen seems to have been altered, as well as the shortcuts, the weather widget and the clock.

Stable Build = Immediate Release?

If you are thinking that a stable build is an indicator of an immediate release, then you stand corrected. A stable build basically implies that the Android Nougat base for the HTC 10 is ready, which makes it a milestone in the update’s progress. However, the finishing touches or the addition of any additional features such as the HTC Sense UI is remaining.

It would be only after some more internal checks that the firmware update would be released to carriers, who would then decide the roll-out schedule for their subscribers.

So if HTC were to release the Android 7.0 Nougat update to carriers by end November or early December, then by our calculations it will be a few more weeks before the carriers push out the update for their variant of the HTC 10.

The earliest we can expect the Android 7.0 Nougat software update to make its way to the HTC 10 is the latter half of December.
