Loving is the true story of Richard and Mildred Loving (Joel Edgerton and Ruth Negga), an interracial couple from Virginia who were married in Washington DC in 1958 because laws in their home state prohibited their union. The couple spent nine years fighting for their right to live together as a family in their hometown, with the case, Loving v. Virginia, going all the way to the Supreme Court.
