Stone installations at Abu Dhabi Corniche mark Year of Giving

ABU DHABI // Monolith granite and limestone installations have been set up on the Abu Dhabi Corniche to mark the Year of Giving.

The Abu Dhabi Tourism and Culture Authority opened the Mamsha Al Khair installations on Sunday, saying they reflect the UAE leadership’s commitment to fostering a culture of giving.

Mamsha Al Khair has inscriptions from the late Founding Father, Sheikh Zayed, as well as the President, Sheikh Khalifa, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid, Vice President and Ruler of Dubai, and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces.

Other quotes inscribed in Arabic and English on the stone panels lining the walkway are from prominent figures such as poets Ahmed Shawqi and Abu Al Tayeb Al Mutanabbi, as well as Mother Teresa and Mahatma Gandhi.

The quotes will be shown every 30 metres along the promenade from the East Plaza to the intersection at Emirates Palace.

Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, Minister of Culture and Knowledge Development, Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, TCA Abu Dhabi chairman, Saif Ghobash, TCA director general, and other officials attended the opening.

“This initiative is our way of illustrating support and commitment to our leadership’s declaration of 2017 as the Year of Giving, while simultaneously giving back to the community and promoting the spirit of collaboration, tolerance, and humanitarianism that the citizens of Abu Dhabi emirate are renowned for,” Mr Al Mubarak said.
