Android 7.1.1 Nougat Stable Version Starts Rolling Out Early: Here's A List Of Devices That Will Be Getting The Update Very Soon

The stable version of the Android 7.1.1 Nougat was previously reported to be launching on Dec. 6. The operating system update is said to coincide with the December security patch.

However, a report claims that Google has started to roll out Android 7.1.1 Nougat earlier than the mentioned date, which means that owners of the devices who will receive the update can expect it to arrive very soon.

Android 7.1.1 Nougat Early Release

An AndroGuider report claims that Android 7.1.1 Nougat has started rolling out in advance of the expected Dec. 6 launch date, with screenshots to prove that the operating system update has already arrived for certain devices. This is happening even as most smartphone manufacturers are still working to bring their devices to Android 7.0 Nougat or Android 7.1 Nougat.

The devices that are said to have already received the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update are a General Mobile 4G and a Cherry Mobile One G1, which are both parts of Google’s Android One project.

The screenshot that was sent in by the General Mobile 4G user, who is from Turkey, revealed a size of 240.6 MB for the update. The screenshot also showed that the software update provides improvements to the security and stability of the Android device, while also fixing certain bugs.

Also included in the operating system update is the Dec. 5 security patch released by Google. The official details of the Android 7.1.1 Nougat upgrade and the security patch, however, have not yet been made available by Google at the time of writing.

Devices That Will Receive Android 7.1.1 Nougat

In addition to Android One, the other devices that will be receiving the Android 7.1.1 Nougat update are the Google Pixel and the Google Pixel XL, which are the latest smartphones released by Google; several devices in the now replaced Nexus line, including the Nexus 6, the Nexus 5X, the Nexus 6P, the Nexus Player and the Nexus 9; and the Pixel C tablet.

With the Android 7.1.1 Nougat patch now having arrived in a pair of Android One smartphones, users who own the aforementioned devices should expect to receive a notification very soon on the arrival of the update.

Android 7.0 Nougat Migration

Android has always had the problem of fragmentation, as device manufacturers who utilize the open source operating system are not immediately able to release the latest versions to their products. Recent reports revealed that Samsung might be upgrading the Galaxy Note 5 to Android 7.0 Nougat soon, the same update is now launching for the Sony Xperia XZ, and Huawei is planning to launch Android 7.0 Nougat to six devices in the first quarter of next year.
