Bengaluru Airport City Breaks Ground on 2 Million Sq. Ft. Business Park

Bengaluru Airport City has officially launched its new 2 million square feet business park as part of an ambitious effort to bolster the city’s Global Capability Centre (GCC) ecosystem. This development, located within Kempegowda International Airport’s larger Airport City project, spans over 17.7 acres and is set to transform the area into a mixed-use destination. The new facility is designed to attract global corporations, promote innovation, and elevate Bengaluru’s status as India’s hub for technology, biotechnology, and aerospace sectors.

Rao Munukutla, the Executive Director and CEO of Bengaluru Airport City Limited (BACL), highlighted that the business park is expected to play a key role in driving growth, both for the city’s economy and the global companies that will set up operations there. Bengaluru already accounts for 36% of India’s GCC workforce, with significant contributions from industries such as IT, biotechnology, and automotive. This new business park aims to strengthen this lead, creating a thriving space for companies to innovate and expand.

The larger Airport City project at Kempegowda International Airport is envisioned as more than just a business hub. It will include dedicated zones for education, health care, research and development, entertainment, and hospitality, making it an integrated destination for work and leisure. Among the planned amenities are India’s first concert arena within an airport ecosystem and a state-of-the-art convention and exhibition centre. These additions are expected to attract international events and boost the city’s profile as a premier destination for business and tourism.
