Big On Telecom signs distribution deal with Blackphone

DUBAI, 3 days ago

Blackphone has signed a master distributor partnership with Big On Telecom, a Big on Group company headquartered in Dubai, to expand the brand’s presence in the Middle East and Africa (MEA) regions.

The agreement marks a significant step in Blackphone’s growth, with Big On Telecom having started testing and launch discussions with telecom operators in the whole of the MEA.

Toby Weir-Jones, CEO of SGP Technologies, said: “We’ve seen a huge demand in MEA for devices and services that stand apart by placing privacy before all else, and that’s exactly what we at Blackphone can provide. There is no better partner to work with to bring the Blackphone to the Middle East and Africa than Big On Telecom, and we look forward to the official launches in countries across the region.”

Ramzy Abdul-Majeed, Big On Telecom chairman and CEO, said: “In this day and age of hacking scandals, Blackphone was created to be private and secure at its core to address a fundamental problem, the loss of control of people’s privacy. The built-in features in the device are designed to give a user control over what information is shared and what is to be kept private hence providing peace of mind to the user.”

Abdul-Majeed added: “We plan to have units shipped out to operators in the MEA region very shortly as we work towards official launch in different countries. We are excited to be a significant part globally of the Blackphone ecosystem and recognise that the availability of Blackphone is truly a game changer for the mobile industry – we are honoured to be a part of it.”

While typical devices and apps increasingly offer features only in return for users’ personal or sensitive information, Blackphone – the world’s first smartphone built from the ground up to maximise user privacy – puts privacy before all else, said the company. – TradeArabia News Service
