RAS AL KHAIMAH // An Asian man was arrested at RAK Airport for smuggling heroin into the country in his stomach.

Col Adnan Ali Al Zaabi, director of the Drug Control Department at RAK Police, said they received information about a smuggler arriving from his home country with heroin with a street value of Dh1 million.

“According to the information, a team was formed to monitor and follow the movements of people entering the country from that Asian state through the border until the suspect was identified. He was confused and horrified,” Col Al Zaabi said.

The suspect admitted the charge and a case will be brought against him by prosecutors, the director said.

Col Al Zaabi said the drug control department was making every effort to catch drug smugglers to protect the community and offer help and treatment to drug abusers.
