DUBAI // A man has been arrested by Dubai Police for allegedly strangling his girlfriend and stealing her money.
CID teams arrested an Arab man for involvement in killing the Asian woman and taking her money after an argument, said Maj Gen Khalil Al Mansouri, Dubai Police assistant commander-in-chief for criminal investigation.
A woman had reported to police on Tuesday that her friend was missing and not answering calls to her mobile phone.
Police found the victim’s body in a travel bag in the bedroom of her Bur Dubai apartment.
Police arrested the suspect “within a few hours” and he confessed to strangling the woman five days before after they fought when she asked to end their affair, said Col Mohammed Ahli, deputy director of CID.
The suspect has been referred to the public prosecution.
