Dubai Police’s latest high-tech vehicle: an all-electric BMW i3 – Leisure

The Dubai Police has added another high-tech vehicle to its fleet: a BMW i3. With a top speed of 150kph, it’s not going to be involved in any high-speed chases. But the small hatchback wins in the emissions department: it’s fully electric.

Painted in green and white, the car was on display at an event in DIFC today. It’s part of a plan to ensure 10% of all government vehicles are electric by 2021.

Earlier this year, Dubai announced a plan to buy 200 cars from Tesla. But the police didn’t say whether more electric cars will go on patrol in future.
