Dubai to get biggest Apple?

Dubai’s next big one is the Apple store. Neil Churchill of EDGAR has the story.

US-based tech giant Apple will open its biggest store in the world at Dubai’s Mall of the Emirates, EDGAR can exclusively reveal.

After regional media picked up on UAE-based job advertisements by the Californian company, we have insider knowledge that the Majid Al Futtaim owned mall will become home to Apple’s first flagship in the Middle East.

Our undisclosed source said that the store – which will be the biggest Apple has ever built – was originally planned to replace the current cinema complex. The timing of the recent job adverts suggest the store could have a planned opening for the first quarter of 2015.

The news finally explains the reason behind Apple CEO Tim Cook’s visit to the UAE earlier this year, when a picture of him meeting with Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid al Maktoum set technology tongues wagging.

The job adverts are for 13 positions including business managers, store leaders, inventory specialists, technical leads and even iTunes interns.
