Emirates has come up with a somewhat light-hearted response to the US-ban on use of larger electronic devices on board US-bound flights.

The Dubai-based carrier posted a short video on its social media channels, which opens with the simple question, “Who needs tablets and laptops anyway?”

The video is a shorter version of the airline’s most recent Jennifer Aniston advertisement that was launched last year.

“This thing has so many games and so many movies,” Aniston says about the on-board entertainment. “It’s crazy.”

It closes with the line, “Over 2,500 channels of the latest movies, box sets,  live sport and kids TV”, and the line the accompanies the video, “Let us entertain you”.

The ban, which requires all passengers to pack electronics larger than a mobile phone to be placed in checked baggage, is likely to have an impact on its services to the US. The ban extends to laptops and tablets, which are seen as key items for business travellers on the board the long-haul flights.
