Expanding Media Landscape: WAM and BRICS TV Forge Content-Sharing Pact

The Emirates News Agency (WAM) and TV BRICS, a consortium of media outlets from the BRICS countries (Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa), have inked a landmark agreement to exchange news content. Signed virtually on April 17, 2024, the pact positions WAM to broaden its global reach and amplify the UAE’s voice on the international stage, particularly within the influential BRICS bloc.

WAM Director-General Mohamed Jalal Alrayssi hailed the partnership as a bridge between cultures and civilizations. He emphasized the agreement’s alignment with the UAE’s commitment to fostering peace, development, and global prosperity, particularly in light of the UAE’s recent accession to the BRICS grouping.

This collaboration promises a richer media experience for audiences worldwide. The agreement paves the way for a daily exchange of news content in various languages, encompassing text, photographs, and video. WAM’s content will be disseminated across TV BRICS’ extensive network and partner platforms, granting the UAE a powerful platform to showcase its economic and humanitarian initiatives.

Janna Tolstikova, CEO of TV BRICS, expressed her organization’s enthusiasm for the partnership. She noted WAM’s pivotal role in global decision-making and underscored TV BRICS’ desire to leverage the agency’s expertise in sharing the UAE’s experiences in economic and humanitarian development on the world stage.

The WAM-BRICS TV pact holds significant implications for the evolving media landscape. It fosters a more diversified flow of information, particularly between the UAE and the BRICS nations. This exchange is poised to enhance cultural understanding and promote collaboration on issues of mutual interest.

Furthermore, the agreement strengthens the UAE’s position within the BRICS grouping. By collaborating with TV BRICS, WAM gains a direct line of communication with a vast audience across the BRICS member states. This enhanced media presence can contribute to fostering stronger economic and diplomatic ties between the UAE and the BRICS nations.

The WAM-BRICS TV cooperation agreement signifies a new chapter in international media exchange. By facilitating a free flow of information and fostering cultural understanding, this partnership paves the way for a more interconnected and informed global media landscape.
