Crossing the red light on the tramway intersection will invite a fine of Dh2,000 to Dh5,000 and revocation of the offender’s license for period of 30 days to 3 months, according to safety regulations issued by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Dubai Crown Prince and Chairman of Dubai Executive Council.
If the accident leads to fatality, a minimum fine of Dh10,000 (Dh30,000 maximum) will be levied. The driving license of the motorist who caused the accident will be revoked for a minimum period of 30 days that can reach up to a maximum of one year.
Crossing the red light on a tramway intersection and causing an accident which results in in injuries will result in a fine of Dh5,000 to Dh15,000 and the license of the motorist who caused the accident will be revoked for a period of 30 days to six months.
The resolution specifies the responsibilities and specialisations of bodies such as the Road and Transport Authority’s Rail Agency, which will be responsible for operating and maintaining the tramway transpiration system in Dubai.
The Rail Agency is also tasked with proposing policies and plans for developing the railway in the emirate, and approving standards and criteria for contractors, consultants and tramway operators.
The RTA will responsible for approving tramway routes, and specifications and locations of the tramway control stations.
