A delegation from the Federal National Council has visited Emirati patients receiving treatment at London medical centres.
Dr Amal Al Qubaisi, Speaker of the FNC, led the delegation that visited the Great Ormond Street Hospital and London Clinic on Sunday, reported Wam, the state news agency.
During the visit, she mentioned a donation from Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Mother of the Nation, to build a centre for research of rare children’s diseases.
The centre, named after Founding Father Sheikh Zayed, will benefit children from all over the world, said Dr Al Qubaisi.
“It will include hundreds of researchers of different genetic and incurable diseases that, Allah Almighty willing, they can find cures for,” she said.
She described Sheikha Fatima as a pioneer for suggesting initiatives and ideas in fields such as education, health and women’s development that can be realised with accomplishments and real benefits.
“This support is a representation of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak’s desire for partnerships with the international community to serve all of humanity, especially in improving the health of future generations of children,” Dr Al Qubaisi said.
She also expressed appreciation for the support to Emiratis offered by the UAE Embassy in the UK.
