Forget Surface Book: Porsche Design's Book One Laptop Is Ultra-Stylish Windows 2-in-1

Microsoft’s Surface Book wowed many with its sleek and unique design. However, it may have found its competition in the ultra-stylish laptop department with Porsche Design’s 2-in-1 Book One laptop.

Unveiled at the Mobile World Congress last February, Porsche Design’s Windows-powered laptop grabbed many people’s attention with its ultra-stylish design that’s reminiscent of the Surface Book. It does, however, have its own unique style that may just surpass Microsoft’s player in the high-end laptop game.

Book One

The Book One is a 2-in-1 Windows-powered laptop with a detachable display for tablet mode. Its shell is made of brushed aluminium and is very thin at 15.9 mm (0.63 inches). The display and keyboard are connected by gear-like hinges that allow for a 360-degree movement. It is the first laptop to have both a detachable display and a 360-degree hinge.

Its 13.3-inch QHD glossy screen is protected by Gorilla Glass 4 and boasts an intense resolution of 3,200 x 1,800 pixels, while its 5-megapixel front camera also has an infrared camera for Windows Hello face authentication. It also comes with an aluminium stylus that sticks to the side of the laptop display via magnets.

The Book One boasts top of the line specifications with Intel’s 7th generation Core i7 processor, 16 GB RAM, and 512 GB SSD storage. Other specifications include Intel 8260 wireless module with support for 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, as well as a 3,235 mAH battery for the tablet.

The high-end laptop that impressed many was made by a collaboration between Porsche Design, Quanta, Intel, and Microsoft. They plan to release only one model that’s expected to be on the market by April 21st at a steep price of $2,495. It’s a pretty high price for a laptop, but it’s really the close to perfect combination of the top-of-the-line specifications and sleek, high-end design that you’ll be paying for.

The Book One’s release in April comes just in time as Microsoft silently released the Surface Book on their online store early in March as well as a possible April release of the Surface Book 2.

The Porsche Design Group

The Porsche Design Group is owned by — you guessed it — the automaker known for high-end, top-of-the-line automotive. The group releasing the Book One also produces high-end jackets, headphones, watches, sunglasses, and other items for clients with high-class tastes.
