Grand Imam of Al Azhar condemns atrocities on Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar

ABU DHABI // Atrocities on Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar were strongly condemned by the top official of the Muslim Council of Elders.

The council is headed by Grand Imam of Al Azhar Al Sharif, Dr Ahmed Al Tayeb.

The killing of people and burning their homes are crimes against humanity, the council was quoted saying on the state news agency, Wam on Thursday.

It’s against the teachings of all heavenly religions and international conventions that criminalise clearly these brutal crimes, the council said.
