Helldivers 2 surged to fourth place on Newzoo’s August revenue charts following its launch on Xbox platforms on 26 August, fuelled by strong sales and heightened player engagement across the US, UK, Germany, France, Spain, and Italy.
Data shows that before its Xbox debut the game occupied the 37th position in the same rankings; its dramatic jump reflects what Newzoo describes as a “substantial uplift” in revenue. Helldivers 2 also placed 13th in overall engagement, and when considering only Xbox platforms, it ranked 11th.
Six days after landing on Xbox Series X|S, Helldivers 2 sold approximately 926,000 copies on that platform alone, surpassing its PlayStation launch pace of 633,000 copies in the same timeframe. The Xbox version’s performance has raised eyebrows, particularly because it comes despite Xbox’s smaller hardware install base compared to PlayStation.
Revenue growth appears driven not only by the Xbox launch, but also by major content updates and tie-ins. One high-profile crossover with Halo’s ODST franchise introduced iconic weapons and armour sets, while the “Into the Unjust” update expanded gameplay by adding a new Terminid sub-faction and imposing boss units such as the Hive Lord.
