The holidays are just around the corner, and along with it comes the time to have to think about what gifts to get for your loved ones.

Let’s start off with something cute in the form of Pixel Pals, which are cordless, AAA battery-powered lamps that are designed to look like popular video game characters. With a price tag of $15, options available for the Pixel Pals include the 8-bit versions of Super Mario and Mega Man, along with a pixelated version of Fallout‘s Vault Boy.

The hype over augmented reality mobile game Pokémon GO may have already died down compared with its peak popularity, but for gamers who are still hooked to it, the Pokémon GO Plus is a great gift idea.
Priced at $35, the Pokémon GO Plus is an accessory that provides various advantages to Pokémon GO players.
NES Classic Edition

Speaking of 8-bit, the NES Classic Edition is another gift idea for this year’s holidays. Priced at $60, the retro gaming console has received positive reviews in being able to provide the promised nostalgia in the 30 games that are included in the device.
The problem with the NES Classic Edition, however, is because of the massive demand for it, there is currently a supply shortage for the console. There are several options available for those who would like to try to purchase the device now, but Nintendo promised that they will be releasing more units as the holiday shopping season draws nearer.
Virtual Reality Headsets

Breaking into the video game industry relatively recently are virtual reality headsets. The devices have a wide range of prices and capabilities, though which one to get would depend on what the gamer being given the gift to has available.
The high-end virtual reality headsets are the HTC Vive and the Oculus Rift, with price tags of $799 and $599, respectively. The devices, however, require powerful PCs to support them, so it would be best to check if the lucky gamer who will receive either one as a gift has such a computer.
Another option is the PlayStation VR, a headset that is powered by the PlayStation 4. Gamers who have the console will likely enjoy the device, which is being sold for $399.
There are also the low-priced options of the Samsung Gear VR and the Google Daydream View, which are priced at $99 and $79, respectively. The Gear VR only works with high-end Samsung smartphones though, while the Daydream View only currently functions with the Google Pixel and Pixel XL.
