BEIRUT// Humanitarian aid has been distributed to more than 1,000 families at a Palestinian refugee camp, by the UAE Embassy in Lebanon.

Almost 5,000 people benefited from winter clothing, shoes, woolen blankets and dates provided by the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation.

The aid efforts at Ein al-Hilweh refugee camp, follow directives from Sheikh Khalifa, the President to turn 2017 into the Year of Giving.

The distribution is part of “the UAE’s Response to the Displaced Syrians – Winter 2017,” project in co-operation with the Sympathy and Social Services Association in Sidon, Lebanon.

Counsellor Muslim Al Mansouri, director of the Humanitarian and Development Affairs Attache, said that the provision of aid would continue.

A meeting of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees’ partners on Friday and attended by the UAE, touched on the volatile situation at the camp and its impact on Lebanon, he added.
