DUBAI // An unemployed Emirati has denied kidnapping and raping his friend’s girlfriend after threatening to kill her.

Prosecutors told Dubai Criminal Court that the incident happened on December 13 last year after the Emirati woman, 40, met with her boyfriend.

“I went out to meet my boyfriend at about 3am. We met near his home and I parked my car and got into his. Then he drove to the defendant’s home,” she said.

The woman said that when they met with the friend, he forced her into his car and then drove away.

It is alleged she was beaten up, punched all over her body, had her head banged against the car door and then she was stripped naked and raped.

“When he was done, he took me to Al Mamzar and called his friends to bring him some alcohol. He wanted me to drink with him but I refused and begged him to let me go home,” said the woman.

At about 7am, she said the defendant drove her back to her car. “I returned home and told my family what happened then we called the police,” she said.

Traces of DNA found on the woman’s body matched those of the defendant.

A police lieutenant, 29, testified that the woman called police on December 14 reporting the incident.

“During questioning, the boyfriend told us that the defendant came to his home and forced him to lure the victim into meeting with him again, after which he dragged her into a car and drove off, then later raped her,” said the policeman.

However, in court the man denied charges of kidnap, rape and issuing death threats.

“I didn’t do anything. I didn’t kidnap her and I didn’t rape her. She was with my friend and came with him willingly,” said the 36-year-old defendant.

The next hearing will be on June 4.
