The Delhi Chief Minister, Arvind Kejriwal, has been sent to judicial custody until April 15 by Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court. This decision comes after his custody with the Enforcement Directorate (ED) concluded.

Kejriwal was produced before Special Judge Kaveri Baweja in a jam-packed courtroom with high security. During this development, AAP ministers Atishi, Saurabh Bhardwaj, and Kejriwal’s wife Sunita Kejriwal were present in court1. The ED had moved an application in the Rouse Avenue court, seeking direction to send Kejriwal to judicial custody. Additional Solicitor General SV Raju, who appeared for the ED, informed the court that further custodial interrogation was not currently required.

Kejriwal’s arrest on March 21 was related to the Delhi liquor scam. The probe agency accused the AAP leader of being involved in the entire conspiracy, drafting and implementing the policy, favoring and benefiting from quid pro quo, receiving kickbacks, and eventually using part of the proceeds of crime generated from the scheduled offense in the election campaign for the Goa Assembly elections.
