LG G6: Leaked Render Of LG G6 Case Shows LG G5 Look-Alike But With Premium Feel And V20 Features

Another render of the LG G6 has surfaced online, confirming rumors that the newest LG phone will be featuring horizontal dual cameras, a fingerprint scanner, and a squarish design reminiscent of the LG G5 and LG V20.

The render shows that the LG G6 will be like the LG G5 in its physical appearance, although based on the previously leaked pictures, it does have a more premium feel to it. Some reports have said that the new LG phone will also feature a removable battery, but the renders that have surfaced so far do not show how this is going to be possible.

Features Of The New LG G6

The LG G6 will be one of the first phones to be powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 835 chipset. It is said to be a virtual reality-friendly handset, thanks to a 2,560 x 1,440 AMOLED display. And since the LG G5’s outstanding feature is its fantastic dual camera, you can expect the G6 to follow suit in this department.

If the rumor mill is to be believed, the G6 will follow the footsteps of Apple and will not have a 3.5-millimeter headphone jack. Instead, the LG G6 will contain a USB Type-C port.

Earlier reports also said that the company will be scrapping the modular design it introduced in the G5 due to the phone’s poor sales performance. The modular design, though unique, proved to be a nuisance for some people.

The LG G6 will also be waterproof, support wireless charging, and also sport a 2.5D glass panel after the G5 was widely criticized for its plasticky feel.

When To Expect The LG G6

It is expected that the G6 — LG’s flagship phone for 2017 — will be launched at the Mobile World Congress this February, since the G5 was launched at the same event early last year. Experts are also saying it will be on sale right away after the MWC in order to get a head start and steal some of Samsung’s thunder since the latter is expected to launch its flagship — the Galaxy S8 — in April.

Since the G6 won’t be changing a lot in terms of its overall looks, it will need to have spectacular hardware features in order to stand out this year. A lot is riding on this year since most Android phone manufacturers did not do well in 2016. Samsung had a meltdown with the Galaxy Note 7 and LG didn’t fare any better with the G5.
