Macaulay Culkin reprises his ‘Home Alone’ role as a deranged adult

The former child star, who was once the highest-paid child actor ever, is back playing Home Alone’s Kevin McCallister, in a new web seriesEver wondered how Home Alone’s dexterous protagonist Kevin McCallister would end up as an adult? The first episode of the new web series, :DRYVRS, starring Macaulay Culkin, the former child star who played the beloved character in the hit film series, gives a solid indication.

In the 1990 original and in the 1992 sequel, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, Culkin’s McCallister is abandoned by his family over Christmas, and left to defend himself against two evil burglars by setting out a slew of creative and deadly booby traps. The web episode, from Jack Dishel, finds McCallister married and driving an Uber. After picking up passenger (played by Dishel), McCallister recounts the horrific experience of being left home alone as a child, and the traumatic effect it’s had on his life. When a man tries to hijack his car, McCallister once again gets crafty.

“I don’t Internets, but if I did I would strongly consider watching :DRYVRS,” Culkin said in a statement about the show. Upcoming episodes will chronicle further strange Uber encounters between Dishel and his gonzo drivers, played by “numerous special guest stars.” The episode comes just a month after the 25th anniversary of the original release of Home Alone. For Culkin, it marks his first appearance since playing himself on TV Land’s The Jim Gaffigan Show.
