KOTA KINABALU: Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd said today it would extend the fullest cooperation to the police in their investigation into the death of a North Korean man at the KL International Airport 2 on Monday.

MAHB chairman Tan Sri Wan Abdul Aziz Wan Abdullah said it included providing the footage of the CCTV cameras at the airport to assist the probe.

“They (police) are still investigating the case … so, we will provide full cooperation to them, because it happened at our premises.

“There have been several recordings on the CCTV cameras … we are working well with the police in the investigation,” he said to reporters after a briefing on the development of the Kota Kinabalu International Airport here.

Questioned on the security at klia2, Wan Abdul Aziz said MAHB did not face any problem in that aspect as security there was good.

Wan Abdul Aziz said MAHB would continue to take more precautions to further enhance security at the airport.

Earlier, in Putrajaya, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai said he had instructed MAHB to cooperate with the police in the investigation, including providing footage of the CCTV cameras.

Police are reportedly investigating to verify whether the North Korean, whose passport carried the name of Kim Chol, was actually Kim Jong-nam, elder half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

Kim Chol was reportedly at klia2 to board a flight to Macau on Monday, but died on the way to hospital after seeking help at the airport customer service counter. — BERNAMA
