West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Friday challenged the Congress to take on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the Hindi heartland states while doubting the ability of the grand old party to secure ‘even 40 seats’ in the upcoming Lok Sabha election, hours after Rahul Gandhi expressed optimism about resolving the seat-sharing deadlock in the state.

“I proposed that Congress contest 300 seats (across the country where BJP is its main opponent), but they refused to heed. Now, they’ve arrived in the state to stir up Muslim voters. I doubt whether they will secure even 40 seats if they contested 300,” Banerjee asserted.

Mamata has started to attack Congress as much as she attacked BJP. She again stressed that she was not informed of the Yatra and challenged Congress that they should have the guts to defeat BJP in UP, Rajasthan, and MP.

From mocking Rahul Gandhi’s migratory bird photoshoot to the former conversation with the Beedi workers, the TMC president took a sarcastic potshot at the party without mentioning any names. At present, the relations between Congress and Trinamool Congress are sour. Despite being in West Bengal, Gandhi and Banerjee did not plan a meet with each other.

Mamata launched a scathing attack on Congress in every other possible way. Right from January 31, when Rahul entered Malda and Mamata was in Murshidabad she first mentioned “ I come less for election, there are people who are spring cuckoo they don’t do anything but they ask for vote.” She also mentioned that Congress was offered two seats in the state for LS polls, but the party rejected the proposal.

“We were open to an alliance, offering them two seats, which they rejected. Now let them contest in all 42 seats alone. Since then, there has been no dialogue between us. We will fight alone and defeat the BJP in Bengal,” she said.

On February 1, Mamata Banerjee from her meeting in Santipur attacked Congress stating that they were friends with CPI-M who all are playing for BJP. Not only that she also again mentioned that during the election “ Spring Cuckoos “ come in. A video was viral from the same event, where Rahul Gandhi was seen sitting with children and beedi workers of Murshidabad.

The TMC had previously allied with the Congress in the 2001 assembly polls, the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, and the 2011 assembly polls, leading to the ousting of the CPI (M)-led Left Front government of 34 years.

Mamata Banerjee started her “Dharna” and attacked Congress mocking Rahul’s photoshoot with bidi workers. In this dharna her target was BJP but she attacked Congress aggressively and mocked Rahul’s photoshoot with bidi workers.

“Now, they are doing photoshoots at tea stalls. They don’t know how to play with kids or how to tie beedis. Maybe they have anything other than beedi. They are migratory birds,” said Banerjee.

Her target is Rahul Gandhi. This is not the first time that Mamata attacked Rahul, back in the 2014 Lok Sabha polls when Rahul came to campaign, Mamata mocked Rahul by stating that he was a migratory bird.

On the other hand, Rahul Gandhi did not mention anything about Mamata Banerjee or TMC in his Nyay Yatra, instead tried to highlight BJP’s hate politics.
