Man who kissed flight attendant while posing for selfie is jailed

DUBAI // A passenger who kissed an Emirates airline flight attendant as she posed for a selfie with him will spend three months in jail.

Dubai Criminal Court convicted the 42-year-old Tanzanian of sexually assaulting the woman, a charge he denied in court in June.

On April 22, the 25-year-old American air hostess reported the incident to police after the flight from Dar es Salaam, in Tanzania, landed in Dubai.

The defendant asked for a picture with her and hugged her as they posed for the shot. She said her supervisor screamed at the man for hugging her.

“He asked me again for a picture, I said OK. When I stood next to him for the shot, he hugged me and kissed my neck,” said the woman, who then pushed him away.

Police said the man confessed to doing it during questioning on April 23. However, in court he denied sexually assaulting the attendant.

However, he was found guilty and he will be deported after serving his jail term.
