OnePlus 5 Specs Leaked: 6GB RAM, Dual Rear Camera, 3,600 mAh Battery, And More : TECH : Tech Times

Just a few days after OnePlus CEO Pete Lau posted the first teaser for the upcoming OnePlus 5, some of the most important specifications of the device have been allegedly leaked on Chinese social network Weibo.

According to Lau, OnePlus fans should expect a “big surprise” soon from the company. From the leaked specifications, the OnePlus 5 will definitely be considered as a smartphone to look forward to as a challenger to flagship smartphones for various brands.

OnePlus 5 Specs Leaked

A Weibo post made by Kumamoto Technology claims that the OnePlus 5 will indeed come with a vertically arranged dual camera setup at the back, lending credibility to a render of the smartphone that was leaked last month. The render shows off the dual cameras of the OnePlus 5 though it fails to reveal much else about the device.

It is almost a guarantee that the OnePlus 5 will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest and most powerful chipset, the Snapdragon 835. However, the RAM that the device will feature has so far been a point of contention. An earlier leak claimed that the OnePlus 5 will feature 8 GB of RAM, which is unprecedented in the smartphone industry’s history. However, the new leak claims that the device will pack 6 GB of RAM, which is not as impressive as the earlier leak but still provides considerable power to the OnePlus 5.

Kumamoto Technology also claims that the fingerprint scanner, which is not seen at the back in the leaked render, will remain in the front of the smartphone. Internal storage, meanwhile, is expected to be 128 GB.

The leaker, however, added that there is still the possibility that OnePlus will release a version of the OnePlus 5 in the future that will come with 8 GB of RAM and an internal storage of 256 GB.

The OnePlus 5 is also said to have a 3,600 mAh battery, and that the device will come with a charging time that is faster by 25 percent compared to its predecessor, the OnePlus 3T.

No information was revealed regarding the headphone jack, particularly on whether it will remain on the OnePlus 5.

Why Is It The OnePlus 5?

Some users may be wondering why OnePlus will name its next smartphone after the OnePlus 3T as the OnePlus 5, instead of the OnePlus 4.

The decision to name the device the OnePlus 5 is because of the company’s Chinese roots. In China, it is believed that the number 4 is bad luck, which is why OnePlus is skipping it and going straight to the OnePlus 5.

Other OnePlus 5 Rumors

The OnePlus 5 is also rumored to have a dual-edge curved display, with slimmer bezels compared to the OnePlus 3T and hardware navigation keys. The reported thinner bezels gave rise to the idea that the smartphone will have to move the fingerprint scanner to the back, but the latest leak claims that it will remain in front.

None of these specifications have been confirmed by OnePlus. However, if they turn out to be true, the OnePlus 5 will definitely continue the company’s run of producing affordable flagship killers.
