ISLAMABAD (Dunya News) – A five-member larger bench of the court, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Anwar Zaheer Jamali, has resumed hearing of Panama Papers case in Islamabad today (Wednesday).

During the case hearing, Chief Justice Anwar Zaheer Jamali asked on which date Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s daughter purchased the land and made payment for it.

Sharif family’s counsel Salman Aslam Butt informed court the land was purchased on April 9, 2011 and money was gifted by Nawaz Sharif. Maryam had paid back money to her father in form of land.

Salman Butt said Maryam Nawaz lives in Jati Umra.

“Is Jati Umra property in Maryam Nawaz’s name? Who pays for the expenses,” asked Justice Azmat Saeed.

The defence lawyer said Maryam earns through agriculture.

Justice Azmat Saeed remarked that matter pertaining to ‘dependency’ is yet to be resolved.

Earlier on Tuesday, the apex court raised three key questions before the counsel for the Sharif family to prove that his client had acquired the London properties through legal means.

The Supreme Court asked how did the Prime Minister’s children create their companies? Is Maryam Nawaz dependant on someone? And did the prime minister tell the truth in his statements?

Salman Butt maintained that Maryam Nawaz was not dependent on the premier since her marriage in 1992.
