Now there is no more ambiguity. For almost a week, the four Shankaracharyas, the symbols of the Sanatan Dharma, are being ridiculed and humiliated at every public forum. The situation certainly did not acquire a nasty dimension all of a sudden. The manner in which the RSS and BJP have been denigrating and insulting the four Shankaracharyas and presenting them as anti-Hindu, was planned long before issuing invitation letter for the still incomplete Ram temple consecration in Ayodhya.
The RSS leaders had already guessed that the four Shankaracharyas would not attend the Ram temple inauguration scheduled for January 22. Their participation would have amounted to desecration of the basic ethos of Sanatan Dharma, which these seers will not do any cost. In case they had agreed to participate, that would have put RSS in a hazardous situation. Their politics of Hindutva would have been received a major setback. Their presence would have denied the RSS to project Hindutva as the real religious tenet for the Hindus, which assimilates the spirit and idea of Sanatan Dharma.
The top INDIA bloc leaders who will be meeting virtually today from all over the country are quite worried at the concerted attempt of the RSS and BJP to denigrate the Hindu religion. Religious as well as political circles nurse deep apprehension, and it must not come as a surprise, that the RSS and BJP may denounce Shankaracharyas and identify them as priests of some kind of anti-Sanatan sect. Apprehensions are being expressed that RSS may claim that their political Hindutva is the real expression of the Hindu religion, representing the Sanatan parampara (tradition)
For some time, RSS and BJP have been indulging in the game of presenting a fake Shankaracharya. BJP leaders have been endorsing him as Shankaracharya of Puri Peeth under a design. Notwithstanding they want to destroy Shankaracharya parampara (tradition) so as to end traditional Hindusim, they also want to turn the institution of Shankaracharya subservient to them. Instead of defining and dictating independently the Sanatan dharma, the Shankaracharyas should follow RSS’s line and take orders from it, according to the Sangh ideology.
The INDIA bloc leaders are expected to discuss the issue threadbare and evolve a strategy to counter it. Friday’s avowal of Narendra Modi that God had chosen him as “an instrument to represent all Indians during the consecration” of the Ram temple, is a well-designed move shut the mouths of Shankaracharyas and seize their position of being the supreme authorities of Hindu religion across the world. Modi has, truly speaking, was trying to answer those questioning his pre-eminence at the event and underlining the fusion of politics and religion it represents. His message is clear that he is above Hindu religion and none can deter him from inaugurating the Ram temple.
To counter Shankaracharya’s observation that certain rules and norms have to be followed for inauguration, Modi in his 10-minute audio message said he had begun an 11-day “special observance”, as prescribed in the scriptures, to “awaken divine consciousness” within himself in the lead-up to the January 22 consecration. He did not say what the “special observance” involved.
One thing is absolutely clear: Modi treats and thinks of Hindus as a bunch of fools and naives. Else, how could he say that “God had chosen him as ‘an instrument to represent all Indians’”? He knew the fools never question the existence of God. They believe any narrative spoken out in the name of God. Obviously in the backdrop of his speaking lies and treating the people fool, its is certain that he has “awaken divine consciousness” through special observance is yet another example of his presenting the Sanatan Hindu rituals and worships in immoral manner.
How far Modi will succeed in his mission to fool the people and reap the dividends out of the present controversy in the upcoming Lok Sabha polls, largely depends on political skill of opposition how they shatter his make-believe pseudo-religious doctrine. Undeniably, Modi’s primacy at the ceremony undermines Shankaracharyas, the Hindu religious heads and is one of the reasons why it must be considered solely a political event to consecrate Modi himself.
Modi did not conceal his greed to be adorned as the supreme leader and sadism in denigrating Shankaracharyas. He confessed: “The dream that many generations have cherished in their hearts for years as a resolution, I am fortunate to be present at its fulfilment. God has made me an instrument to represent all Indians. As stated in our scriptures, we are required to awaken the divine consciousness within ourselves for the yagna and worship of God…. Therefore, based on the guidance I have received from some ascetic souls and great beings on this spiritual journey… I am beginning a special observance of 11 days from today.”
He sought the “blessings” of his “1.4 billion compatriots” and urged to “immerse themselves in devotion for Lord Ram”. He said: “When 1.4 billion people connect with me from their hearts in that moment, and when I enter the sanctum carrying your energy, I will feel that I am not alone, but you all are with me too”. A tech-savvy Modi also told the people to “express their feelings” and connect with him through the Narendra Modi App.
Modi was in fact trying to intoxicate the people by feeding religion as opium. This has been the best mechanism to immerse the controversies that have sprung up surrounding the modalities of the rituals. The Dharam Gurus have openly said: ‘We cannot remain silent now and must say that it is a bad idea to inaugurate an incomplete temple and install the idol of the god there’. Only a day back Avimukteshwaranand had told in clear words: “We don’t have any ill-will against anybody. But it is the responsibility of the Shankaracharyas to follow the norms of the Hindu religion and suggest that others do so. They (those involved in the construction of the temple and organisation of the function) are ignoring the established norms in Hindu religion.”
He said holding of the Pran Pratishtha ceremony of Lord Ram without completing the construction of the temple was the first violation of the tenets of the Hindu religion. He warned: “There was no need for such a hurry”. It will be quite entertaining to witness the clash of the RSS politics of Hindutva with the gurus of Sanatan Hinduism. (IPA Service)
