The Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017) is expected to launch soon and the AT&T version recently received certification from the Federal Communications Commission.

Samsung has yet to offer any official information regarding the smartphone and it remains unclear just when exactly the new Galaxy J7 will hit the scene, but the FCC is typically among the last stops a device has to make before it’s ready for primetime.

Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017) Coming Soon

The Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017) is among the rumored Samsung smartphones that are yet to become official, but keep surfacing before the unveiling. It was spotted on GFXBench back in February, received Wi-Fi certification early this month, and carrier-specific versions started popping up as well.

The Verizon variant will apparently come as the Galaxy J7 V; Sprint, Virgin Mobile and Boost Mobile will release it as the Galaxy J7 Perx; TracFone will offer it as the Galaxy J7 Sky Pro; and it now seems that the handset is also headed to AT&T.

AT&T Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017) Drops By FCC

No details are yet available regarding what the AT&T Galaxy J7 (2017) will be called (if it has a special version name like on other carriers) but the FCC certification indicates that it should arrive soon enough.

The FCC lists the AT&T Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017) with model number SM-J727A, but doesn’t reveal any additional information about the smartphone’s specs, features or release date.

Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017) Rumored Specs

Based on leaks and reports that surfaced so far, the Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017) is expected to have midrange specifications that should deliver a decent performance, but not too much oomph. The smartphone is rumored to come with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor or an Exynos 7870 processor, 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of native storage space, most likely expandable via microSD.

Other rumored specifications include a 5.5-inch full HD (1,920 x 1,080 pixels) display, a 13-megapixel main camera on the back, a 5-megapixel front camera, and a 3,000 mAh battery to keep it all up and running. In terms of software, the Galaxy J7 (2017) should hit the scene with Android 7.0 Nougat on board out of the box.

Leaked images of the device showed an April 10 date on the smartphone’s screen, which could be either the announcement day or the date it actually goes on sale. Samsung has not offered any information about its plans for the 2017 Galaxy J series so far, but it should make an announcement soon enough.

The company has a big Unpacked event scheduled for later this month, on March 29, but the stars of that event will be the new Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus flagship smartphones.

It remains to be seen when the Samsung Galaxy J7 (2017) will make its formal debut, but the unveiling is likely just around the corner. As always, take all leaks, rumors and reports with a grain of salt in the meantime, as nothing’s certain until Samsung makes the announcement.
