Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ will hit the U.S. shelves on April 21. However, some users who preordered the Samsung smartphones have started receiving the devices. The flagships are being touted as two of the year’s best smartphones.
Tech Times reported on Tuesday, April 18, how a YouTuber compared the latest Samsung handsets’ real-world speed performance against premium flagships from other OEMs such as the iPhone 7, OnePlus 3T, LG G6, and more.
PhoneArena has performed a test, which compares the battery life and charging capabilities of the Samsung flagships vis-à-vis other premium handsets.
How Were The Tests Conducted?
The folks at PhoneArena conducted the test on both the Galaxy S8 and the Galaxy S8+ devices. However, these tests were conducted on the Exynos 8895 SoC models and not the Snapdragon 835 variants of the two smartphones. Another important aspect to be kept in mind is that during the tests, the flagships had HD+ resolution settings (1,080 x 2,220 pixels).
The publication states that it maintained equal standards of testing that it does for other handsets. Throughout the duration of the test, both the devices were set at 200 nits of brightness, which is the optimal level for indoor use.
How Did The Galaxy S8 And Galaxy S8+ Fare?
Both devices revealed similar results when it came to battery life. The Galaxy S8+ lasted for 8 hours, while the Galaxy S8 provided an impressive battery backup of 8 hours and 22 minutes. In comparison, the predecessors Galaxy S7 and Galaxy S7 edge lasted for 6 hours 37 minutes and 7 hours 18 minutes, respectively.
The test provides conclusive evidence that apart from the 2017 Samsung flagships having an advanced display and processor, the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ smartphones also offer enhanced battery life.
In fact, the flagships managed to outdo all other premium smartphones in the market like iPhone 7, OnePlus 3T, LG G6, Google Pixel XL, and Huawei P10 when it comes to the battery life. The only smartphone the Samsung flagships were unable to outpace was the iPhone 7 Plus, which managed to last 9 hours and 5 minutes.
Galaxy S8 And Galaxy S8+ Charging Time
PhoneArena also conducted tests to determine just how long it took for the Samsung flagship smartphones to fully recharge their batteries from 0 to 100 percent.
It was seen that both phones took roughly 99 minutes (Galaxy S8+) and 100 minutes (Galaxy S8) to get fully charged. Both the devices feature Fast Adaptive Charging, which ensures that they do not take too long to recharge. In this parameter, the OnePlus 3T fared and LG V20 fared the best with 85 minutes and 86 minutes charging time, respectively.
The Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8+ easily outperformed the iPhone 7 Plus, which took 197 minutes to charge completely.
