DUBAI // A new date has been set for the country’s own hardcore adventure race launched by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed, Crown Prince of Dubai, earlier this month.

The inaugural event, named Sandstorm, will now be held on February 10 at the Al Qudra Lakes, within Al Marmoum Conservation Reserve Dubai.

The decision to move the date back from January 27 was made in response to large interest in participation from those within the country and abroad, according to statement by Dubai Holding, the organisation launching the event with Sheikh Hamdan.

The statement said the new date will provide those interested in the race an extended opportunity to register.

The Sandstorm course will be set across distances of 5 kilometres and 10km, and feature rocky, sandy, wet and muddy terrain and about 40 obstacles.

Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in the men, women, Emirati and corporate teams categories.

Registration is open at www.sandstormdxb.ae.
