Seven Stars Secures Seed Funding to Revolutionise Mobile Puzzle Gaming

Finnish mobile game developer Seven Stars has successfully completed a seed funding round, co-led by Spintop Ventures and Behold Ventures, with Sisu Game Ventures joining as a new investor. The investment aims to bolster the company’s mission to redefine the mobile gaming landscape.

Established in 2022, Seven Stars is led by CEO Alex Le Bell, with key figures including CTO Olli Aurola and Creative Director Markus Tuppurainen. The team comprises industry veterans from renowned studios such as Moon Active, Rovio, Seriously, Next Games, and Small Giant Games. This collective expertise positions the company to innovate within the puzzle gaming sector.

The fresh capital infusion will enable Seven Stars to expand its team and enhance its development processes. The company has also secured funding from the European Union for a research and development project, further supporting its innovative endeavours.

“At Seven Stars, we’re building the next generation of puzzle games, blending innovation with deep industry expertise,” the studio stated. This sentiment reflects their commitment to pushing the boundaries of mobile gaming.

Sisu Game Ventures expressed enthusiasm about the investment, noting, “We are excited about the reveal of Seven Stars’ new round, which marks our latest investment in Finland. The Seven Stars team has already demonstrated their ability to craft excellent puzzle experiences efficiently. Their upcoming game showcases a strong creative DNA blended with the type of commercial mindset required to succeed in a demanding mobile market.”

Advising the company is Timo Soininen, founder of Small Giant Games, a Spintop Ventures portfolio company that was acquired by Zynga. His guidance is expected to be instrumental as Seven Stars embarks on its journey to become a prominent player in the mobile gaming industry.

“Spintop is delighted to team up with the experienced Seven Stars team and our other gaming friends, and join their journey towards becoming the next gaming success from Finland, building on the promising early traction from their launch game,” said Erik Wenngren, partner at Spintop Ventures.

The leadership team’s diverse backgrounds contribute to a rich tapestry of experience. CEO Alex Le Bell previously served as CEO of Tridify, bringing a wealth of leadership and strategic insight. CTO Olli Aurola, formerly with Lute Group, offers extensive technical expertise, while Creative Director Markus Tuppurainen, an ex-SciPlay creative director, adds a strong creative vision to the team.

The participation of multiple investors underscores the confidence in Seven Stars’ potential. Failup Ventures and several angel investors, including former Small Giant Games CEO and co-founder Timo Soininen, have also contributed to this funding round. The European Union’s support for the company’s R&D project further validates its innovative approach to game development.

Seven Stars’ approach to game development focuses on merging innovative mechanics with engaging gameplay. By leveraging the team’s collective experience, the company aims to create puzzle games that offer fresh and captivating experiences for players.
