Shivraj fuels speculation on political future

madhya pradesh congress bjp spar over announcements made by cm shivraj chouhan

A day after submitting his resignation as the chief minister of Madhya Pradesh to make way for Bharatiya Janata Party’s new CM pick Mohan Yadav, Shivraj Chouhan clarified his plans for the future adding that he is not moving to Delhi for any new role.

Ever since the BJP announced that it would go for a change in old leadership, the questions about party stalwart Shivraj Chouhan’s future role in Madhya Pradesh politics have been on the fore. Experts believed that Chouhan would be brought to Delhi by central leadership for bigger roles in the Modi government.

Putting an end to such assumptions, Chouhan, while addressing the media said, “Apne liye kuchh maangne jaane se behtar, main marna samjhunga, Isiliye meine kaha tha main dilli nahi jaunga.”

Asked about his experience as the 4-term MP chief minister, Chouhan said he was happy and satisfied while leaving the office and nothing made him happier than the BJP coming into power with a thumping majority.

Aaj jab main yahan se vidayi le raha hoon…I am satisfied that in 2023, once again the BJP formed the govt with a thumping majority. My heart is filled with happiness and satisfaction,” Chouhan said.

The BJP on Monday picked Mohan Yadav, a three-time MLA from temple town Ujjain as the new chief minister of Madhya Pradesh, once again reposing its faith in the numerically strong Other Backward Classes (OBC) and denying Chouhan a record fifth term in office.

More than a week after the BJP’s resounding victory in the assembly polls, the ruling outfit’s legislature wing elected Yadav (58), a minister in the Chouhan government and a prominent OBC leader, as its leader at a meeting held here in the presence of central observers, paving the way for him to take over as the next CM.
