Small earthquake recorded off Fujairah

The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology said the earthquake was recorded at 7.23am.

The earthquake was near Musandam.

“Its a minor earthquake and is part of normal activity in the region,” said a seismologist at the centre.

Such small earthquakes are common, he said. There was another quake in Masafi in May.

“The range from 2.5 to 4 on the Richter scale is a very small earthquake. The police inform us if people call them and they have felt the earthquake. We haven’t received any calls,” he said.

Meanwhile, weather forecasters at the centre said hot and hazy conditions were likely to continue across the country.

Slight winds accompanied by blowing dust is also expected with the relative humidity increasing at night and into Tuesday morning.

Moderate sea conditions are expected.
