Spate of accidents delay commuters in Dubai and Abu Dhabi

ABU DHABI // A spate of accidents across Dubai on Monday morning caused delays to commuters, prompting police to warn drivers to take extra care.

Dubai Police took to Twitter at 8.25am to report an accident on Sheikh Rashid Road, before the tunnel of the Dubai World Trade Centre, heading towards Jebel Ali.

Motorists heading towards Abu Dhabi experienced heavy congestion on the E11 Sheikh Rashid Road and Sheikh Zayed Road from Wafi Mall due to the accident, according to trafficDXB.

An accident on Al Rebat Street before the Nad Al Hammar Road intersection towards Deira caused added congestion to rush hour traffic, trafficDXB reported at 7.34am.

Motorists were also warned of a traffic bottleneck at 8.40am after an accident on Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road near E66 (Dubai-Al Ain) road intersection towards Abu Dhabi.

At 8.41am, trafficDXB reported an accident on E44 (Al Khail Road) before Umm Suqeim interchange towards Abu Dhabi.

A minute later, another accident was reported on Al Rebat Street near Emirates Aviation College heading towards Festival City and Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road.

An accident occurred at 8.45am on D63 Umm Suqeim Road, just after Al Khail Interchange towards Sheikh Zayed Road and Jumeirah; and another at 8.49am on D60 before the Airport Tunnel Towards Dubai.

Two accidents caused tailbacks on Sheikh Zayed Road at about 9am. One was before the Noor Islamic Bank Metro station towards the World Trade Centre and Sharjah, and the other near Dubai Internet City towards Abu Dhabi.

In the capital, the Department of Municipal Affairs and Transport reported a car accident on Khaleej Al Arabi Street opposite Adnec towards the Corniche at 7.37am. It was cleared within half an hour.

Motorists experienced delays of up to an hour on E22 before Umm Al Nar Bridge, towards Abu Dhabi city, on Khaleej Al Arabi Street before Mussafah Bridge, and on the intersection of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Street (Salam Street) and Al Dhafeer Street, towards the Corniche.
