Our national security correspondent, Michael R. Gordon, is traveling with Mr. Kerry, who headed to Singapore on Monday evening.

TUESDAY: On Tuesday, Mr. Kerry is expected to deliver a speech on the importance of United States trade and investment in Asia before heading to Malaysia.

WEDNESDAY: An announcement could be made in France about whether the airplane wing flap found on the island of Réunion last week is from Malaysia Airlines Flight 370, which disappeared over the Indian Ocean more than a year ago. It is unlikely that there will be news on whether that plastic water bottle with Chinese writing on it came from the plane as well.

Mr. Kerry plans to attend a meeting with the Association of South East Asian Nations in Kuala Lumpur.

THURSDAY: Aug. 6 is the 70th anniversary of the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima. Sunday is the anniversary in Nagasaki.

FRIDAY: Mr. Kerry plans to give a speech about the last 20 years of United States-Vietnam relations in Hanoi.

And, finally, we will be watching for more news of militant leaders’ being declared dead years after they expired.
