Three injured in fire at Umm Al Quwain warehouse

UMM AL QUWAIN // A warehouse filled with old car tyres went up in flames in a UAQ industrial estate on Monday morning.

Three Africans were injured in the blaze, said Col Khamis Ibrahim, head of UAQ operations room, which happened at Umm Al Thobe industrial area.

“The operations room received a call at 8am about the explosion of a furnace for grinding waste tyres,” Col Ibrahim said.

The civil defence crew evacuated the area surrounding the incident site and extinguished the fire, while the injured men were taken to hospital.

The incident site has been handed over to police after being cooled by civil defence, Col Ibrahim added.
