Trip.com Partners with Merlin Entertainments for Enhanced Marine Attractions

Trip.com Group has announced a new partnership with Merlin Entertainments, aiming to bring unique and immersive marine-focused experiences to travelers across Asia. This collaboration will take place in key locations such as Chang Feng Ocean World in Shanghai, SEA LIFE Bangkok, SEA LIFE Busan, and COEX Aquarium in Seoul. The partnership emphasizes the development of specialized events, including nighttime science explorations, habitat restoration workshops, and interactive marine festivals designed to engage and educate visitors.

This initiative follows Merlin Entertainments’ ongoing commitment to marine conservation, which has seen an expansion in funding for 16 global conservation projects earlier this year. Beyond raising awareness about marine ecosystems, the partnership will also offer bespoke experiences at other Merlin attractions like Madame Tussauds and LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre, targeting the growing demand for curated experiences, particularly among younger travelers.

The partnership underscores the importance of innovation in tourism, with both companies planning to introduce new technologies and concepts that enhance the visitor experience. This move is set to significantly boost the offerings at Merlin’s sites across Asia-Pacific, which have already seen a surge in popularity, as highlighted by the 30% growth in attraction and activity bookings in the region during the second quarter of 2024.

This collaboration between Trip.com and Merlin Entertainments not only aims to attract more visitors but also seeks to inspire a deeper connection with the marine environment, positioning these experiences as both educational and entertaining. This is a significant step towards redefining how global travelers interact with marine life, ensuring that these experiences contribute to conservation efforts while providing memorable moments for visitors.
