Trump’s Scandalous Jabs Drag Trudeau’s Mom Into Canada’s Election

By Arun Kumar Shrivastav

The US Presidential election is scheduled for 5 November 2024 while the Canadian elections to elect a new Prime Minister is expected to take place in October 2025. After Kamala Harris became Democratic Party nominee for the President in the upcoming election, Republican Party’s Donald Trump, who was seen as a clear favourite for the top post until that moment Joe Biden backed out and favoured his vice-president for the race, is slowing losing the edge. The competition now seems equal for both Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.

Incidentally, 78-year-old Donald Trump survived an assassination bid on July 13 in which he was nearly shot in the head. One of the world leaders who called up Trump and enquired after him was 52-year-old Canadian Prime Minister Justine Trudeau. As the Presidential race becomes intense with Kamala Harris entering the fray, Trump has made some bizarre statements to divert attention away from the US.

Talking to a Kick streamer, Trump claimed that Trudeau could be late Cuban President Fidel Castro’s son. He says Trudeau’s hair and face resemble those of Castro. This brings the attention to Justin Trudeau’s 75-year-old mom Margaret Trudeau. On July 5, Mick Jagger, 80, of the Rolling Stones band recalled Justine Trudeau’s mother in his presence at the Vancouver concert. “We love you Mr Trudeau,” Jagger said from the state and the crowd booed. “I mean his family has always been such big fans of our band,” Jagger added.

Many at the concert and outside believed he was joking about the rumours that Margaret Trudeau slept with Jagger during those heady days of 70s when Margaret was referred to by tabloids as the “wild child first lady.” For Trudeau this must have been an amusing moment when he finds her mother took the spotlight for a life spent partying, using dopes, and intimate moments with musicians, including Rolling Stones band members.

As this scandalous past of Justine Trudeau’s mom gave the tabloids another opportunity to visit her life, UK’s Daily Mail published a new comprehensive article only a few days ago about Margaret Trudeau’s passion-filled life some 50 years ago. This shifts the attention away from Justine Trudeau who, too, is facing a scrutiny by the voters ahead of the elections. What makes Trump stand out as a scandal-monger and establishes him as the ultimate guru of this art and science is his 2021 remarks about Margaret Trudeau.

A former White House Press Secretary Stephanie Grisham in her memoir “What I Saw at the Trump White House”, claimed that “Trudeau’s mom. She f—ed all of the Rolling Stones.” A lot of people always liked to believe throughout the past 50 years what Trump said. In media interviews, Margaret denied having affairs with any Rolling Stones band members. However, she talked about this incident at a mental health conference and joked, “I should have slept with every single one of them.”

When Justine Trudeau contested elections in 2015, Margaret Trudeau did not take part in the preparations and campaigns as the Press was targeting Justine Trudeau’s young age and perceived lack of maturity as someone “just not ready”. Now when Justine Trudeau is facing a tough election ahead, her mom’s aura and presence is not only unmistakable but also pregnant with some meaning. Should we expect a repeat of Kamala Harris in Canada?

Margaret and Pierre Trudeau married when they were 22 and 52 respectively. Justine Trudeau was born nine months after the marriage. The couple separated in 1977 and formally divorced in 1984. The tabloids said Margaret skipped the sixth anniversary to party with the Rolling Stones after their concert in Toronto.

In a 2016 interview, Margaret talking about hanging out with the Rolling Stones. “We played dice until about five in the morning, in my hotel suite. Smoked some dope, talked. It was a good night, and it was my new world. But no one knew I was separated from my husband yet, and it brought a huge scandal.” Similarly, Jagger told an interviewer that it was “embarrassing” that people thought they had hooked up, saying the story had been “blown up”.

While Trump takes pot shots at Justine Trudeau, he misses no opportunity to emphasize, “Justine Trudeau and I got along very well.” Trump say Justine Trudeau is too liberal and generous, bordering on communism that Trump say he is not. (IPA Service)
