UAE delegation takes part in two-day Arab Parliament meeting in Cairo

ABU DHABI // A delegation from the Federal National Council’s parliamentary division is participating in a two-day meeting which began on Friday in Cairo.

The Arab Parliament’s four permanent committee’s meetings are being held at the headquarters of General Secretariat of the Arab League ahead of Monday’s session.

Jassim Abdullah Al Naqbi, a member of the FNC’s legislative, legal and human rights committee, said they will discuss a proposal on an Arab initiative to reject the link between violence and terrorism to Islam and to denounce discriminatory measures against Muslims.

Other topics include conditions of Palestinian detainees in Israeli prisons, a reporting mechanism of regional and international human rights organisations in the Arab region, and a review of its report on Syrian refugees in Greece.

Aisha Salem bin Samnoh, a member of the committee on social and cultural affairs, women and youth, will present a draft document on higher education and scientific research in the Arab world, and another on advancing the Arabic language.

The other delegates were Khalid Ali bin Zayed Al Falasi, a member of economic and financial affairs committee, and Mohammed Ahmed Al Yamahi, a member of the foreign Affairs and folitical Affairs and national security committee.
