ABU DHABI // Heavy rain is expected in Dubai, Sharjah, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah on Monday with scattered showers forecast in the capital.

The National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology warned against towering clouds over the northern and eastern parts of the country and strong winds of up to 60 kph.

Motorists are advised to drive with caution as strong winds may pick up blowing dust, reducing visibility to less than 2km at times.

Heavy rain lashed Ras Al Khaimah early on Monday morning while residents in the capital experienced sunny skies.

Forecasters said partially cloudy skies across the rest of the country will contribute to a significant temperature drop, particularly in the west.

Temperatures will range between 14°C to 27°C along the coast, 12°C to 28°C inland and 7°C to 21°C in the mountains.

Rough to very rough seas are expected in both the Sea of Oman and the Arabian Gulf’.

On Tuesday, temperatures will continue to drop with strong winds picking up sand and reducing visibility over exposed areas of the country.

Rain will continue to fall in patches and seas will be rough, growing calmer by Wednesday.
