ABU DHABI // Windy conditions are expected to continue throughout the long weekend, especially over the sea, according to the UAE’s weather bureau.
A northwesterly wind blowing at speeds between 30kph and 45kph along the coast may increase up to 55kph. In the interior and mountain areas, the wind speeds will be slightly reduced, blowing between 20kph and 35kph, with gusts reaching up to 45kph, the National Centre of Meteorology and Seismology said.
The centre said the windy conditions will cause the waves to be rough to very rough in the Arabian Gulf and Oman Sea. On land, strong winds may cause blowing dust and sand over exposed areas on land, reducing visibility at times.
Sunday’s high will reach between 23°C and 27°C along the coast. Temperatures will be about one degree warmer in the interior and much cooler in the mountains, where highs are expected to range from 17°C to 21°C.
The lowest temperature recorded over the country on Sunday was 2.6°C at Jais Mountain at 2.30am.
