UAE's Strata plans second factory to double capacity

Abu Dhabi’s advanced composite aerostructures manufacturing company has unveiled plans for a second facility at Nibras Al Ain Aerospace Park.

Strata Manufacturing, owned by Mubadala Development Company, said the Strata 2.0 facility will more than double its capacity and will add about 60,000 sq m.

The company said in a statement that construction on the Strata facility is expected to start in 2018, and will become fully operational by 2020.

The new plant will manufacture two of the most complex work packages that include the horizontal tail plane for the Airbus A320 and the vertical fin for Boeing’s B787 airliners it added.

These work packages will be manufactured, fully equipped, tested and delivered directly to the final assembly lines of both Airbus and Boeing.

Ismail Ali Abdulla, deputy CEO of Strata, said: “This new factory will deliver on innovative solutions that will seek to revolutionise traditional production methods in aerospace by introducing smart technologies and additive manufacturing to create a unique and seamless flow.”

Abdulla described the new factory as “a true milestone for the company, aligning achievements with future opportunities”.
