Cinema Space presents two films today. Cecil B DeMille’s masterpiece The Ten Commandments (1956), starring Charlton Heston as Moses and Yul Brynner as Rameses, will be shown in its newly restored version, in a family-friendly afternoon programme with an intermission. Then see L’Enfance Nue (Naked Childhood), the 1968 French film directed by Maurice Pialat about 10-year-old François (Michel Terrazon), a foster child who is passed from one family to another. The film has English subtitles.

Attend a performance of Khafeef Al Rouh, an experimental play by Emirati playwright and director Jamal Mattar that explores the struggle between constants and variables, as people search for a better life while fearing the unknown. The play is presented in connection with But We Cannot See Them: Tracing a UAE Art Community, 1988-2008 and will be in Arabic with English translation.

Register to take part in workshops at Manarat Al Saadiyat in conjunction with the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi exhibition The Creative Act: Performance, Process, Presence. Children ages 6-12 can take part in Paint! Canvas! Action!, in which they create art in the manner of Japanese Gutai artists, painting with bicycle wheels and toy cars, sliding in paint, splattering, pouring and rolling. Teenagers and adults will also enjoy the Gutai Art Lab, using experimental processes and non-traditional materials for playful art production. For both workshops, wear clothes you don’t mind getting paint on, as it can get messy.
