iPhone 8 vs. iPhone 7: Quick Specs Comparison Of Upcoming And Current Apple Flagship Smartphone

Apple will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of iPhones in 2017. The company is said to skip the iPhone 7s name and call its anniversary model iPhone 8. The rumor mill of the next iPhone has already started and undoubtedly it will be an upgraded version of the current-gen iPhone 7.

Here is a comparison of Apple’s current and upcoming flagship smartphone.

Design

Rumors claim that Apple will bring radical changes to the design of iPhone 8. The smartphone may have thinner bezels and it may not include a home button, which means that the Touch ID will be built in into the display.

Ming-Chi Kuo, an analyst with KGI securities, suggests that Apple may switch to the non-aluminum casing in the iPhone 8.

Display

The iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus sport an IPS LCD display. However, speculations are rife that the iPhone 8 could feature OLED display. The display size of the iPhone 8 is supposed to remain the same at 4.7 inches.

Wireless And Fast Charging

The current-gen iPhones do not feature fast charging or wireless charging. According to a previous Tech Times report, the iPhone 7 Plus takes about 3 hours and 30 minutes to fully charge, which is fairly higher in comparison with other phones such as the Pixel XL and the Galaxy S7 edge.

It is likely that Apple will use USB Type-C in its upcoming devices to bring them at par with rivals.

Camera

Apple has upgraded the camera of the iPhone 7 when compared with its predecessor. The iPhone 7 Plus is equipped with a dual-lens setup, which is not found in the smaller model.

“iPhone 7 Plus doesn’t have just one entirely new camera system — it has two. The same 12MP wide-angle camera that’s on iPhone 7 works with a 12MP telephoto camera that can get even closer. That means you can get higher-quality zoom from farther away. And with an all-new Portrait mode, portrait shots will look better than ever. Say hello to the world’s best photo op,” says Apple.

If rumors are to be believed, then the iPhone 8 as well as the iPhone 8 Plus will boast dual-lens camera setup.

Processor And RAM

The iPhone 7 comes with 2 GB of RAM and A10 processor, which the company claims is the “most powerful chip ever in a smartphone.” Apple has always improved the chip in its new phones and it is highly likely that the iPhone 8 will come with an A11 processor and probably with higher RAM.

Color Options

Previous rumors had pointed that the iPhone 7 could be available in a Deep Blue hue as well. Apple introduced two new colors for the iPhone 7: Jet Black and Black. Now rumors are surfacing that Apple will launch the iPhone 8 in Deep Blue color option.
