Mass Effect: Andromeda To Feature Microtransactions: Here Are The Details

If you have some cash to spare, then Mass Effect: Andromeda can offer you some nice perks.

When the space shooter releases, people will find out that they can buy in-game items using real-world money. Very much like in other AAA multiplayer games like Overwatch and For Honor, microtransactions will appear in Andromeda to give players some quick boosts in multiplayer mode.

Mass Effect: Andromeda is coming out March 21 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Windows. The game has received mixed reviews from various game sites.

Real Cash For Virtual Goods

In Mass Effect: Andromeda, players will discover a get-strong-quick way using the game’s currency. While they can earn this currency the normal way (by grinding), they can just buy some if they have extra cash.

This in-game currency is called Andromeda Points, which can be used only in multiplayer mode. These points can be used to acquire “multiplayer packs.” These come in the form of “blind loot boxes,” which contain several in-game items such as weapons, perks, and more.

An online shop in the UK called ShopTo was already offering Andromeda Points for sale one week before the game’s launch. Players can also buy from the Xbox Store and PlayStation store.

Here’s the price list:

• 500 Points – $5

• 1,050 Points – $10

• 2,150 Points – $20

• 3,250 Points – $30

• 5,750 Points – $50

• 12,000 Points – $100

‘Andromeda’: Keeping Its World Open

Mass Effect: Andromeda is the fourth title in the popular Mass Effect franchise. The game was developed by BioWare (of Dragon Age fame) and published by Electronic Arts.

Andromeda is a deviation from the series’ contained gameplay as it opens the game’s world a bit to allow the thematic quest for planets. The open world gameplay also lets players explore more using newly introduced features such as the Nomad, an all-terrain vehicle.

The biggest change in the game is in the combat mechanics. Unlike in previous titles where the players must choose among six classes, Andromeda lets players combine skills from different classes so they have the freedom to explore and experiment with how to approach the game in multiple ways.

True to its exploration theme, the game’s story will focus on Andromeda Initiative, a human program to send people to the Andromeda galaxy to find planets suitable for living. Thus, the game’s story elements will revolve around the players’ choices regarding the various alien characters they meet in the game, as well as their decisions regarding which worlds to focus on.

The multiplayer mode is also a feature of the game. Players around the world can battle each other in cooperative and competitive matches. Microtransactions feature prominently in this mode, as players can buy stronger items and weapons to use.
