Modern smartphones have become increasingly bigger, but a new handset called Jelly comes as the world’s smallest 4G smartphone and runs Android 7 Nougat out of the box.
In recent years, there’s been a constant push to make smartphones increasingly larger and some truly blur the line between smartphones and tablets. The tiny new Jelly smartphone, however, is quite the opposite.
Unlike large smartphones from the likes of Samsung, Apple, Google and others, Jelly is a cheap and tiny phone with a 2.45-inch display. It will cost just $109 and sport dual SIM, microSD support, a removable battery and more specs that seem quite impressive for its tiny size and price.
Meet Jelly, The World’s Smallest 4G Smartphone
Jelly comes from a company called Unihertz and it’s currently raising funds through Kickstarter. It still has 34 days left to go, but it already raised more than three times its initial goal. The campaign started out with a $30,000 goal and at the time of writing, it already raised $156,249 and it’s rapidly raising more.
“Amazingly small but powered with the latest Android 7.0 Nougat features, Jelly is a mini-sized 4G smartphone for everyone,” touts the description on Kickstarter.
Interested customers can already order the tiny Jelly smartphone and benefit from a $40 discount off the regular retail price, meaning they can get the handset for just $69. The Jelly Android smartphone is slated for delivery in August. The company also has a Jelly Pro version that’s slightly more expensive, but comes with double the RAM and native storage of the regular Jelly.

Jelly Smartphone Specs
The tiny Jelly Android smartphone features a 2.45-inch touchscreen display with a resolution of 432 x 240 pixels, a quad-core processor clocked at 1.1 GHz, 1 GB of RAM (2 GB for the Pro model), 16 GB of native storage (32 GB for the Pro model), an 8-megapixel rear camera and a 2-megapixel front shooter.
Other specs include dual nano SIM card slots, a 950 mAh battery, Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, 4G LTE, GPS, Compass, G-Sensor, and Gyroscope. Unlike other feature phones, the Jelly smartphone runs Android 7.0 Nougat.
It may not be suitable for watching video or playing graphics-intensive mobile games, but it should be more than decent as a communications device to handle calls, messages, emails, notifications and the likes. The 950 mAh battery might sound like a joke, but for a tiny device such as the Jelly it should be enough to last for a full three days of normal use and roughly one week in standby on a single charge.
“Jelly is a mini-sized phone with full features of Android 7.0 Nougat and also the first of its kind supporting the ultra-fast 4G network,” adds the description on Kickstarter. “It is the ultimate answer to any situation where using a heavy, expensive primary phone is inconvenient.”
The Android smartphone also has full access to the Google Play Store so users can install various apps just like they would on any smartphone. Jelly comes in three color options: Space Black, Pearl White and Sky Blue. Interested customers can also get an extra battery for $9 more, or an armband and a case for $10 more.
