ONLYOFFICE has unveiled version 8.3 of its online editors, introducing approximately 30 new features and numerous bug fixes across the suite. This update significantly enhances the platform’s compatibility and collaborative capabilities.
The latest release now supports Apple iWork formats—Pages, Keynote, and Numbers—as well as Hancom Office formats . Users can open these files directly within ONLYOFFICE, with formatting preserved. For editing purposes, these files are converted and saved to OOXML formats , though full formatting compliance during conversion is not guaranteed.
Localization improvements are a key focus in this update. The suite now offers enhanced right-to-left language support, including the ability to change the default sheet direction and toggle paragraph direction between left-to-right and right-to-left in text documents. Additionally, the display of non-printable characters in RTL paragraphs has been corrected, and RTL interface support has been added for the embedded viewer.
The PDF Editor has been upgraded with several notable features. Users can now add professional stamps to contracts, agreements, and other PDF files. During real-time co-editing sessions, it’s possible to undo recent actions without disrupting the workflow. The editor also allows for the selection of multiple pages simultaneously for rearrangement or deletion. A quick panel has been introduced for editing annotations, enabling users to change highlight colors, add comments, or remove annotations efficiently. Furthermore, the opacity of highlight colors can now be adjusted when adding or editing annotations.
In the Spreadsheet Editor, collaboration is enhanced with the ability to undo recent actions during real-time co-editing. External links can be set to update automatically, ensuring that important data remains current. The AutoFill feature now offers more options, allowing users to fill cells with days, weekdays, months, or years. Additional improvements include the ability to open and save calculated items in Pivot Tables, an updated function wizard with descriptions of function arguments, and the option to show or hide horizontal and vertical scroll bars.
The Presentation Editor introduces a new Design tab, providing a more intuitive interface for applying styles, changing color schemes, and adjusting slide sizes. Users can now draw directly on slides during presentations using pen and highlighter tools. Other enhancements include the ability to rename the Slide Master and quick access to the “Show from Beginning” option via the top Quick Access Toolbar.
A notable addition across all editors is the Merge Shapes feature, which allows users to combine shapes in various ways—such as union, combine, fragment, intersect, and subtract—to create custom visuals.
Additional enhancements in version 8.3 include the ability to combine and compare text documents at the character or word level, improved usability when working with protected text documents, the option to toggle field codes, and a reset crop function for images accessible from the right panel and context menu.
